Course Description

The AP U.S. History course is designed to provide students with the analytic skills and factual knowledge necessary to deal critically with the problems and historical questions in American History.  Students will learn to assess historical materials—their relevance to a given interpretive problem, reliability, and importance—and to weigh the evidence and interpretations presented in historical scholarship.  This course will help develop the skills necessary to arrive at conclusions based on informed judgment and to present reasons and evidence clearly and persuasively in discussions, presentations and essay.  This is a survey course with broad chronological coverage and readings on a wide range of topics in such special fields as economic history, cultural and intellectual history, and social history.
