Who can take this course: Seniors

Length of course: Two Semesters

Guiding Philosophy/Purpose
To give students a college level experience that includes an introduction to the field of psychology and psychological research. The purpose of this course is to help students better understand and explain human behavior.  Students who are interested in relating to people in personal, academic or career settings will be well served by taking AP Psychology. 

Topics Covered
Social Psychology, History, and Methods of Research, The Brain, Sensation/Perception, Learning/Cognition, Development, Personality, Disorders/Treatment and Motivation/Emotion.

Benefits of taking AP Psych
Psychology will help students better understand human and animal behavior, this should enable students to have more meaningful interactions from both a scholarly and personal perspective.  This interaction with others will be advantageous regardless of their career decisions.
